Dr. Ranga Reddy Burri is an Indian physician, academic, and public health specialist known for his work in infection prevention and control (IPC) and antimicrobial resistance (AMR). He is the President and Founder of the Infection Control Academy of India (IFCAI), a non-profit organization focused on IPC training, capacity-building, and public health advocacy, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.
Early life and education
[edit]Dr. Burri obtained his medical degree (MD) from Belarus. He later earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Pharmaceutical Management from Pondicherry University and completed an Advanced Management Program at IESE Business School in Barcelona, Spain.
Career
[edit]Dr. Burri has worked in both the healthcare industry and public health sectors, holding leadership roles at Dr. Reddy's Laboratories and Laboratorios BAGO. In 2016, he established the Infection Control Academy of India (IFCAI) to promote awareness, education, and research in IPC and AMR.
He is credited with developing India's first Postgraduate Diploma in Infection Prevention and Control (PGDIPC), which is offered in collaboration with the University of Hyderabad. In 2022, he convened the Global South Prevention and Antimicrobial Resistance Conference (G-SPARC), a multi-national forum for public health professionals.
Dr. Burri holds honorary and adjunct faculty positions at the University of Hyderabad and the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI), respectively. He has served on advisory panels including the Government of Andhra Pradesh’s AMR State Action Plan and advisory committees of India’s Department of Science and Technology (DST).
